Narayanpur, Baneshwar 16/5/2010

Places visited: Narayanpur, Baneshwar.
Date: 16/5/2010
Purpose: Picnic.
Persons: Harshal, Juilee, Aai, Baba.
Baba wanted to go to Narayanpur since many days. I insisted them that we should go by car.
So on Saturday night, he said that we 4 will go there and visit any other place nearby. So I suggested that we will go to Narayanpur and then to Baneshwar. I knew that because of the summer heat, the nature will not be at its best.
From home, we started at 8:45 AM, went first to New Poona Bakery, took Pyatis and then took U-turn at Santosh hall and drove to NH4. We wook the new satara highway and near Shirval, I ate pyatis. Pyatis was very tasty but only 1 was left, We ate cakes, too. We reached Balajai-phata ( Ketkavle ) at 9:30 AM. The big arch at the phata says "Naraynpur". We turned left and went straight ( on the way you will see Balaji Temple ). After Balaji Temple, the road is under construction. And its a good amount of ghat road. On the way, there is Purandar fort.
Because of summer, the land and the hills were all brown and without a single leaf. Gulmohor was there as it flowers in summer. We reached Narayanpur at 10:00 AM. There are two temples there one is the main Shree Datta temple and the other is Narayaneshwar ( bhagwan Shankar ) temple.
From Swargate there are buses to Saswad which go to Naraynpur.
I parked my car under a big tree near the temple.
We first went to Ekmukhi Datta temple. There is audumbar tree at the entrance. In the temple, there is very beautiful idol of ek mukhi datta. The temple is very clean and tidy. We could not go inside the gabhara as the door of the gabhara was close. They open the doors in the evening. The photography is banned.
There was less crowd in the temple. We sat for a while. Babanni prasad mhanun pedhe ghetle hote te mala khup aavadle... mhanun aajun ek puda ghetla pedhyancha.
Then Aai, Baba and Juilee waned tea, so we went into the hotel in front of the temple. Till they were enjoying the tea, I went to take some photos and found the narayaneshwar mandir is also nice to see. So I came back to the hotel and we all went to the Narayaneshwar temple.
The temple is said to be built at the times of Mahabharat by Pandav. The temple has very nice architecture and kalas is very well carved with different shapes. The gabhara has 3 shivalingas covered with glass ( because people try to touch those ).
After that we came out and Aai Baba bought Kali Maina and then we headed towards Baneshwar.
From Naraynpur we went back to the NH4 highway and then turned right ( towards Pune ) and then turned left at Narsapur phata. The road is nicely covered with trees and after 1 - 2 KMs, the nice jungle starts, which gives meaning to the name "Baneshwar" - The ishwar of the Ban.
Near the Mandir, there is car and byke parking for FREE. - I was surprised to see that the parking is free for this picnic spot. It was 12:00 PM
There is a big trishul at the entrance. We entered in the premises of the temple. The ground is too hot to touch with bare legs. There is a board saying the story of the Banehwar at the entrance. There are two small ponds and then we enter in the temple. At the entrance of the main temple, there is a big bell, with a cross sign over it. Inside the temple, Gabhara has actually 5 shivalinga. The temple and the surrounding jungle is managed by the Baneshwar Temple Trust.
Adjacent to the temple, there is a jungle trail. The jungle is really good. It has many different trees. The trees have the nameplates on them. There are birds photoplates, too. There is a rop-vatika to buy the trees. The jungle is big, but we did not roam as Aai Baba were tired. We sat under a tree. Juilee chya mavshi ni dilelya chatai cha udghatan kela ani tyaavat baslo. Chan gol paar hota. Ani gardi navhti tyaamule shantata hoti.
We then had Kulfi, Kali Maina, Chips, Anjeer. We chatted for a while and then started back towards the temple. Near the temple, we had Slice and Fruity.
The toilets are realy shitty and dirty. Shit all over everywhere. I request, if any government official is reading this, please go and clean all that shit.
Then we started our return journey and on the way we stopped at Janhavi hotel for lunch. I ate Pithla + Roti, Baba had Dosa, Juilee had Masala Dosa and Aai ate Idli Sambar, as her toothwork was going on.
We reached home at 3:00 PM and slept like anything.
