Places visited: Ved Farms
Date: 21/12/2012
Purpose: Baba Vadhdiwas
Persons: Harshal, Juilee, Radhika, Aai, Baba.
I always prefer the zero crowded places for a picnic or if the place is famous then I choose a odd day like Wednesday or Friday.
This time we wanted to celebrate Baba's birthday with Radhika. And Radhika is yet too small to enjoy crowd, so I wanted a very less crowded space and day.
A month back, my mom visited this Ved Farms which was quoted as very good, neat and clean place by her. So I contacted them and chosen Friday (21-Dec) as our day of visit. I booked a one-day trip which includes morning tea, breakfast, lunch and evening tea with biscuits.
The previous day, Radhika did not go to sleep until 1:00 AM night. She is, now-a-days, wanting to play with me, Juilee and all her toys all night!
We could not woke up so early on 21st, but still managed to wind up all the morning things (including Radhika's) till 8:30 AM. After that we handed over nice rose flowers along with chocolate and a gift (all this Juilee bought a day before) to Baba.
We started from home at 9:00 AM. The Khed Shivapur toll plaza is 17 Km from my home. After this toll, approximately 6 to 7 Km, you will see a Reliance petrol pump on the left hand side and then after approximately 500 meters, you will see a Bharat Petrol Pump on the right hand side. There you have a right turn on the road divider and immediately have to go to the side (left) lane to jump on the kaccha road which is going inside the "Kelawde" village from the Bharat Petrol Pump side. Watch for the fast and furious vehicles coming from the Satara side!
On this road as you drive for 500 meters, you will find a small board of "Ved Farms". I was glad that there are no big sign boards, as it helped to keep this place less crowdy. :)
We reached there at 9:45 AM. I drove carefully as Radhika was with us, else we would have reached within 30 minutes.
Mr. Shrikant welcomed us and took us to the room number 4 which has a nice seat-out with table and chairs. The cafeteria is near by. He immediately served us hot breakfast - Kande-Batata-Matar Pohe, Sabudana vada and Chirota. All were tasty and fresh. Then we sipped hot nescafe when Baba was opening the gift. Radhika as usual was trying to catch all things and put in her mouth. After this Radhika, too, had her small breakfast and then we walked out to wander in the farm/garden. There are many fruit trees like dalimba, keli, limboo, chikku, papai, naral, supari and other vegetables like kobi, ghosala, etc.
After sometime, Radhika got sleepy so we had to return to the room. Aai and Baba started to make her sleep while me and Juilee again gone out for a walk in the fields. There are some fields adjust to the Ved farms and also there was a big temple of Shree Dutta, but which was yet to be inaugurated (planned on 27th Dec - Dattajayanti).
We went inside a farm where a old lady was plucking toor dal shenga. We asked her if we can help and received a laughter from her. She said "This is difficult for you as you are from the city." But, still, we helped her by plucking some shengas. Then she offered to visit inside the farm where there were eggplans (vangi), dudhibhopla and mirchi. We planned to come this field in the evening to purchase some vangi. We also took snaps with the "Markuti Mhais" and "Khatyal Vasru", they both were trying to hit us by legs and head, so a farmer hold them while we were taking photos.
We returned to the room till 12:45 pm and drank nice fresh limboo sarbat. Due to the heavy breakfast no one was feeling hundry, so we planned to take lunch at 1:45 pm.
The lunch was excellent - garam garam poli, matar usal, val-papdi chi bhaji, dhabbu mirchi chi bhaji, amsul saar, gulabjam, ghosalyachi bhaji. All was very tasty. First me, Juilee and Aai had lunch and after Baba sat for lunch while I gave company to him. After the lunch, we tried to make Radhika sleep for 1 hour and then we slept.
The room was big enough to accomodate 4 people. 2 on bed and 2 on floor.
In the evening we had coffee with biscuits and left good comments in the feedback book. Juilee and Aai bought some vegetables and bananas. (Ti kacchi keli amhi ek aathavda dethala chuna lavun thevli hoti, mag ti pikli).
I liked Ved Farms very much because of sanity, cleanliness and less crowd. I am planning to visit again.

I really liked your blog. Very few blogs of this type exist. Your blog is just unique even if I find travel blogs elsewhere. You provide multiple photographs and a nice detailed account of what you did there. I like the way that you tell everything, right from travel directions, to the first sight impressions to the arrangements and the food. It feels like we also visited the place from within you.
ReplyDeleteI utterly love the fact that you mention your expenses so clearly.
Please keep up the good work.
very useful info thanx n keep it up
