The Monday was Memorial Day. Even though we are here in USA, we have not made any American friends yet. We could have gone to see the parade and other Memorial day stuff. But there was no one to explain the significance of all those things. So we decided to enjoy ourselves. While I was looking for parade details on kwqc.com, I saw the advertisement of this cruise. It was yet another hot day, still we dared to go out at 3 PM for the cruise. I booked the tickets online on their website.
We packed cold water bottles, sun-caps and some snacks and reached the boarding station.
What better way to see the river than from the deck of an old-fashioned riverboat? It was a 1 ½ hour sightseeing cruise aboard the Riverboat Twilight. These cruise departed and returned from the Port of 197 Front Street North, LeClaire IA.

The Twilight traveled north and took in the sights of the Mississippi River, it’s birds and the river towns of Pt Byron IL, Princeton IA and Cordova IL. The Captain gave a brief history of the area and facts about the river and its commerce. There was also plenty of time to relax, enjoyed the complimentary glass(es) of Iced Tea or Lemonade. There was full service bar on the third deck for purchase, but we did not. Gift shop is located on the bottom deck and offers a variety of Twilight souvenir items, but we kept away from it. It is a three floor boat. On each floor there is a open gallery and then AC section in the middle, where you can seat and relax. The gallery has chairs and some cabanas. Second floor serves the free lemonade, tea and coffee. We applied sunscreen liberally (as mentioned on it's  tube, hahaha) to protect us from sun burns. Thanks to the clouds which helped to reduce the sun light and promoted cool breeze on the deck.

No food service is provided, however, passengers are welcome to bring a sack lunch or small picnic basket with them. Sorry…no coolers or alcoholic beverages can be brought on board. We brought our snacks. We also met a couple (Kelly Kemp and her husband) and their grand daughter Kayla. We offered her a blueberry bard and she got surprised by this gesture of ours. She then gave her fan to Radhika as a return gift. I did not talk much with them. Juilee chatted with them for a while. It seems that they live in Ames (where I might go someday in future for my work).

We spent 20-25 minutes on each floor. This tour was worth! When the cruise returned to the station, we got down and went to Blue Iguana Mexican restaurant near the station to have some coffee (for Juilee). The hot coffee they served was as cold as icecream. And they gave us the entire big milk can when we ordered for milk to be added to the coffee. After adding that cold milk, the coffee turned out to be colder. So Juilee asked the waiteress to warm it up a little. And the waitress literllay warmed it up just a little. We did NOT enjoy this coffee at all. Even the cinamon milk that
Radhika took was flooded with millions of ice cubes, so Radhika also did not enjoy it. We removed all the ice cubes from it and took it home ad then Radhika drank it the next day morning and after warming it up.

I was joking to Radhika if she wants membership of this cruise as well (because we took membership of Family Museum and Niabi Zoo on the previous two days).
